TDEE calculator
This TDEE calculator estimates your Total Daily Energy Expenditure—the number of calories you burn per day. It uses the Mifflin-St Jeor equation for BMR (basal metabolic rate) and multiplies by an activity factor. Use the result to set calorie targets: eat below TDEE to lose weight, above to gain, or at TDEE to maintain. For guidance only; individual needs vary.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is TDEE?
TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure) is the total calories you burn per day including rest, activity and digestion. It is often estimated as BMR × an activity multiplier. Use it to set calorie targets for maintaining, losing or gaining weight.
How is TDEE calculated?
First calculate BMR (Mifflin-St Jeor equation from age, sex, weight, height). Then multiply BMR by an activity factor: sedentary 1.2, light 1.375, moderate 1.55, very active 1.725, extra active 1.9. Result is your estimated TDEE in calories per day.
Is the TDEE calculator free?
Yes. Free to use. For guidance only; individual needs vary.
How do I use TDEE to lose weight?
Eat fewer calories than your TDEE. A deficit of about 500 kcal/day is often used for roughly 0.5 kg (1 lb) weight loss per week. Do not go below minimum recommended intake; consult a professional if unsure.
